BRINGING IT TO LIFE: AN INTERVIEW
“On the bad days it’s like walking through treacle.”
Having a solid base for my concept I began to work on bringing it into the real world. I felt I needed to talk to someone who suffers from S.A.D. one on one to get a greater, more personal insight into the condition and an opinion on how my concept may fit in, in reality.
After sending a memo around the staff and students of DJCAD I found a lovely lady, Claire* who was happy to speak to me. I met her in her studio and we went to the Cantina for an informal chat.
She told me of how she has suffered from S.A.D and other forms of depression for more than 10 years and explained how this makes her feel and how she tries to manage it.
She is a great believer in S.A.D. lights and uses one in her studio as well as at home. She also told me of her love for winter – something that I wasn’t expecting to hear from a S.A.D. sufferer. This highlights the potential for my idea to be a success. She spoke of how she loves to travel and tries to get away to somewhere sunny each year. I was already aware many S.A.D. sufferers to do this and I am interested in investigating how my concept can help when sufferers aren’t able to go abroad.
