INSPIRATION: ANDREW GELLER
After deciding where my heart was at and to focus on S.A.D. I began looking at small scale builds and small/simple living.
In the library I came across a book on 1950s/60s beach houses by the America architects Andrew Geller. This book just caught my eye and I fell in love with it and couldn’t put it down!
I really love his use of geometric shapes a lot of which is similar to my way of drawing. Also his use of wood in all his designs I like and his way of working – “attacking the traditional pitched roof.”
His designs remind me of a village in South Ayrshire, Lendalfoot where I have spent my whole childhood. The small hamlet village with less than 50 wooden, mostly holiday, homes is set right on the beach on the west coast of Scotland.
