Today we visited the V&A Design In Motion bus, which is beginning it’s journey around more than 70 places in Scotland bringing attention to some of the countries most talented present day designers. The project aims to highlight the scope and scale of the upcoming V&A Dundee.

The bus houses the work of 8 different designers including DJCAD’s Sara Robertson as well as the leading fashion designer Holly Fulton.

V&A Dundee has also created an app alongside eeGeo allowing people to track the exhibition as it travels around the country.

The bus was a really great opportunity for us to see a space redesigned with a whole new purpose. The 40x8ft bus has been transformed into a fully functioning gallery space housing the work of 6 designers. When you are inside you would have no idea you were in fact inside a bus. The exhibition space is designed by Gabrielle Underwood. Her history of special design has allowed her to make very clever use of such a small space.

We got shown around the exhibition and told about each of the designers and their work. It was very interesting to get an insight into the level of talent in the country but also the diversity of the work. This visit has really got me thinking about the massive impact the V&A Dundee is going to have on the city and I am excited to see it in action!
