TOUCH POINT 2: PLATFORMS FOR CREATIVITY

David Gauntlett and Amy Twigger Holroyd delivered a lecture and workshop focussing on Platforms for Creativity. In the morning they gave a talk, which focused on the importance of everyday making and everyday creativity. They talked about how they both work promoting this throughout the country; David through serious play & Lego and Amy through knitting. Both highlighted the importance of working with your hands to stimulate creativity. The hands contain lots of nerve endings that lead to the brain so hand movement can act as a stimulus for ideas.

The afternoon comprised of a workshop all about "Tools for Thinking." Through a series of group activities we investigated objects and their effect on thinking and creativity highlighting further the importance of a society of creative thinkers. Creativity is not just for the artists, authors & actors.

The day while giving me a breather, fitted in really well with the RSA brief. It made me examine creativity from a new angle and left me feeling inspired and raring to continue with my personal project.
