CREATIVE CONDITIONS: INITIAL RESEARCH: S.A.D.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.) affects around 2million people throughout the UK and over 12million people across northern Europe. S.A.D. is a form of depression associated with the winter months caused by a lack of sun light. It can be treated by light therapy through the use of LED lights that give out white light. These have the same effect as natural light helping to regulate melatonin levels.
Positive feelings and happiness is proven to allow people to be more creative. Studies from the University of Warwick found that happiness makes people 12% more productive. Other studies have found that positive moods make people 20% more likely to have an insight.
Positive thinking encourages consideration of the bigger picture, the people and world around us, which is key to creativity.
